Background
Interleukin-6 receptor subunit alpha (IL-6R, also known as CD126) is a membrane glycoprotein that binds IL-6 and mediates signal transduction through its association with gp130. IL-6R plays a critical role in immune regulation, inflammation, and hematopoiesis, and is implicated in various pathological conditions including autoimmune diseases, cancers, and cardiovascular disorders. The soluble form (sIL-6R) extends IL-6 responsiveness to cells lacking membrane-bound IL-6R.
