Background
CD99 (MIC2) is a transmembrane glycoprotein involved in cell adhesion, T-cell migration, and apoptosis. In mice, it is expressed on leukocytes and endothelial cells, contributing to leukocyte transendothelial migration and modulating MDSC expansion in graft-versus-host disease. Clinically, strong membranous CD99 staining serves as a key immunohistochemical marker for diagnosing Ewing sarcoma family tumors (ESFT).
