  • Background
    • Background

Matrix metalloproteinase-8 (MMP8), also known as neutrophil collagenase, is an enzyme involved in the degradation of extracellular matrix components, particularly type I collagen. It is predominantly expressed in neutrophils and plays a role in tissue remodeling, inflammation, and wound healing. Dysregulation of MMP8 activity has been associated with various pathological conditions, including periodontal disease and cancer.

      Neutrophil collagenase, EC:3.4.24.34, Matrix metalloproteinase-8, MMP-8, PMNL collagenase, PMNL-CL
