Background
MMP3 (Matrix metalloproteinase-3), also known as stromelysin-1, is an enzyme that degrades various components of the extracellular matrix, including proteoglycans, laminin, and fibronectin. It plays critical roles in tissue remodeling, inflammation, and cancer metastasis. MMP3 is also involved in activating other MMPs, amplifying its impact in pathological processes such as arthritis, cardiovascular disease, and tumor progression.
