Species of Origin
His Tag (N-term)
Lyophilized from a 0.2 µm filtered solution containing 20 mM sodium citrate and 0.2 M NaCl, pH 3.5.
>98% as determined by SDS-PAGE analysis.
The protein has a calculated MW of 16.48 kDa.
The protein migrates as 18 kDa under reducing condition (SDS-PAGE analysis).
Measure by its ability to induce alkaline phosphatase production by ATDC5 cells. The ED₅₀ for this effect is <21.8 ng/mL.
<0.01 EU per 1 µg of the protein by the LAL method.
Bone Morphogenetic Protein-8B (BMP-8B) is an extracellular multifunctional signaling cytokine that is also a member of the TGF-β family. BMP-8B can bind with the TGF-β receptor and is involved in SMAD protein signal transduction. BMP-8B plays a role in bone and cartilage development. It is expressed in brown adipose tissues and the hypothalamus, which can affect thermogenesis and susceptibility to obesity.
Osteogenic protein 2, OP-2, Bone morphogenetic protein 8B
It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized protein in 4 mM HCl to a concentration not less than 200 μg/mL and incubate the stock solution for at least 20 min to ensure sufficient re-dissolved.
