Background
CD147 (Basigin), also known as EMMPRIN, is a transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. It functions as an extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer, regulating cell adhesion, migration, and invasion. CD147 plays critical roles in immune regulation, inflammation, and tumor progression. It is widely studied as a biomarker and therapeutic target in cancer, cardiovascular disease, and infectious pathologies.
