Background
PDGFR Alpha, short for Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptor Alpha, is a transmembrane tyrosine kinase receptor protein encoded by the PDGFRA gene. It plays a crucial role in cell growth, development, and wound healing processes by binding with platelet-derived growth factors (PDGFs). Activation of PDGFR Alpha triggers various intracellular signaling pathways, including the Ras/MAPK pathway and the PI3K/Akt pathway, regulating cell proliferation, survival, and migration. Dysregulation of PDGFR Alpha signaling has been implicated in several diseases, including cancer and fibrotic disorders, making it a potential therapeutic target for drug development.
