Background
Human Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] is a low-density lipoprotein–like particle in which apolipoprotein(a) [Apo(a)] is covalently linked to apolipoprotein B-100. Variants containing specific kringle IV (KIV) domains, such as KIV5-6, are useful for investigating structure–function relationships and the genetic risk of atherosclerosis, coronary artery disease, and thrombosis. Recombinant Lp(a) fragments provide valuable tools for cardiovascular research and in vitro diagnostic development.
Synonyms
Lp(a), Apolipoprotein(a), Apo(a), Lipoprotein little a, Kringle IV-5/6 fragment, Kringle domain protein, Cardiovascular risk factor Lp(a), Apo(a) KIV variant, Lipoprotein(a) isoform, KIV5-6, LPA
