Background
Human Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a multifunctional cytokine that plays a vital role in immune response, inflammation, and hematopoiesis. It is involved in the acute phase response and is a key player in the body's defense against infections, as well as in chronic inflammation and autoimmunity. Elevated levels of IL-6 are often associated with inflammatory diseases and certain cancers. The Human IL-6 protein, when expressed in CHO (Chinese Hamster Ovary) cells, is typically tagged with a His (histidine) tag to facilitate its purification and detection in laboratory research. This recombinant IL-6-His fusion protein is extensively used in studies investigating inflammatory pathways, immune regulation, and the development of therapeutic interventions for diseases associated with IL-6 dysregulation.
